Sicily Trip I had a wonderful time with Pirates of Paradise in Sicily. The crew was such a great match, was very friendly and everyone took great care of us. It was a good mix of activities on land and relaxing time on the boat. Everything was organized in such a way that it was easy to just enjoy and go with the flow. The boat is very comfortable furnished, so you immediately feel at home and can quickly settle into the group and get to know new people. Sicily is definitely worth a visit. Absolute recommendation. I booked the trip to Italy at very short notice because I had never sailed before and wanted to try it out. Another friend of mine spontaneously jumped on board, but I wouldn't have had any problems on the boats even without him. I think the nature of this trip attracts a very similar type of person and so, without exception, all the other travelers and the crew were very relaxed, sociable and in a good mood, so that within a very short time you had a very familiar feeling in the group. From minute one, this trip was generally like a trip you booked with good friends, which is something you have to like. So it's not an all-in sailing trip, but you have to lend a hand, be it with the sailing itself or with preparing food, which in my opinion strengthens the group feeling even further. By the way, the food was consistently outstanding! Otherwise, all you can say is that it's incredibly nice to wake up in the morning and jump into the deep blue water in a bay before having breakfast together and then in the evening on the boats tied together until late at night under the stars (which are good from the sea are visible) to chat and celebrate with the new acquaintances.

Sicily tour was the best decision ever. Had a blast. As a solo traveller I met many lovely people aboard. Nice balance between sailing time and activities. Nice spots for sleepovers. And the team really knows what they‘re doing, incredibly skilled skippers and chefs. A little helping e.g. for cooking is required. I had a very nice and relaxing week with the Pirates. Yenzi does a great job as skipper and, despite the sailing and organizational stress, always has an open ear and time for conversation. Along with Yenzi, other Pirates crew members were on board who made sure that cooking, washing up, and cleaning up went smoothly. I've never experienced anything like that before. Simply outstanding! The pre-planned meals were always delicious and imaginative and even catered to me, a non-vegan. The boat has several upgrades and offers so many amenities that charter boats can't offer! Because the crew lives on the boat permanently, it's much more homely and lovingly furnished. I find little mementos of past trips everywhere in the boat, which quickly makes you feel at home. Overall, Pirates of Paradise simply puts more attention to detail, and in this respect, Yenzi and his crew are way ahead of larger providers. Definitely a reason for me to come back.

I therefore don't want to go into my own personal impression any further, I think it just wasn't a good fit on a human level. In my opinion, the following things are important to know before booking a trip with Pirates: The trips are designed for young people. This is also how it is described on the website and this is also reflected in everyday life, which is free and flexible, at times unstructured and chaotic. I myself am in my mid-30s and consider myself to be quite a free spirit, but at times I felt really old and worn out. The conditions on board are cramped. Some crew members do not have their own cabin and sleep in the common area or on deck. During our stay on board, a toilet was also broken, which smelled and looked very unpleasant. The heat below deck is sometimes unbearable, especially when cooking, and sleep is out of the question on warm nights. If mosquitoes have found their way on board or the crew, who were previously too tired to wash up, turn up the volume again and make a fuss right above your bunk... you will feel a few years older by the next morning at the latest. But still: you can cope with little sleep and privacy for a week, it's worth it. I would recommend everyone to see for themselves... just don't do too many Insta stories, otherwise you'll miss the real magic of this tour.
