Gibraltar is tiny in size but remarkably layered in character. The food here pulls in three directions at once: British practicality, Spanish freshness and Moroccan spice, all compressed into a territory smaller than most European towns. Markets are stocked with produce from nearby Spain, and the influence of North Africa is never far away.

On board near Gibraltar that means cooking that crosses borders. Roasted peppers and Spanish olive oil sit alongside Moroccan-spiced chickpeas and the kind of simple, substantial food that makes sense after a day of sailing through strong currents. Every meal is 100% plant-based and prepared together by the crew and guests. Gibraltar is where three food cultures meet on one plate.

What actually is Gibraltar?

Gibraltar is a British Overseas Territory sitting at the very southern tip of Spain, where the Iberian Peninsula reaches toward Africa. It is home to a massive limestone rock that rises 426 metres out of the sea and can be seen from miles offshore. Geopolitically it is one of the most unusual places in Europe: officially British, bordered by Spain, a short boat ride from Morocco and sitting exactly where the Atlantic becomes the Mediterranean. There is nowhere quite like it.

Do I need a visa for Gibraltar?

Gibraltar is a British Overseas Territory and not part of the EU, though it shares an open land border with Spain. Most European passport holders can enter without a visa, but the rules differ slightly from entering Spain. If you are travelling from outside the EU it is worth checking Gibraltar’s entry requirements separately from those of the surrounding countries.

What wildlife can we spot near Gibraltar?

Gibraltar is one of the best places in Europe for wildlife, both on land and at sea. In the waters around the Rock, common dolphins travel in large pods and sperm whales and orcas are regularly spotted near the strait. On the Rock itself, the famous Barbary macaques roam freely. They are the only wild primates in Europe and have lived here for centuries. Griffon vultures circle the thermals above the cliffs. In a very small area, the wildlife encounters are extraordinary.

Do I need any sailing experience?

None at all. Our skippers take care of everything on board. You are welcome to help with the sailing if you want to learn, but you can also just sit back, relax and enjoy the ride.

Can I join a Trip on my own?

Yes, and most of our guests do. You will be part of a small group of 8 to 10 open-minded travellers. By day two, strangers have usually become crew.

What is included in the price?

Seven nights on board, all plant-based meals prepared fresh each day, a professional skipper, and all port and marina fees. Flights and travel to the departure port are not included.
