Moroccan cuisine was plant-based long before anyone used that word. The tradition of slow-cooked vegetable tagines, spiced lentil soups, roasted aubergine salads and chickpea dishes cooked with ras el hanout goes back centuries. The spice markets in Tangier smell like nothing else in the world.

On board along the Moroccan coast that means fragrant tagines cooked low and slow, zaalouk with fresh bread, couscous piled high with roasted vegetables and preserved lemon cutting through everything. Every meal is 100% plant-based and prepared together by the crew and guests. Morocco expands the way you think about what plant-based cooking can be.

FAQ Sailing in Morocco

What is it like to cross the Strait of Gibraltar?

One of the most memorable moments we experience on any of our Trips. At its narrowest point, only 14 kilometres separate Europe from Africa. You can see both continents at the same time from the boat. The currents are strong, the shipping traffic is busy and the sense of crossing into somewhere genuinely different is immediate. It is the kind of sailing that reminds you how connected the world is and how small a boat feels in the middle of it.

Do I need a visa to sail to Morocco?

Most European passport holders can enter Morocco without a visa for short stays. If you are travelling from outside Europe it is worth checking the requirements for your nationality before booking. Morocco is outside the EU and Schengen area, so make sure your passport is valid for at least six months beyond your Travel dates.

What wildlife can we spot near Morocco?

The waters around the Strait of Gibraltar are among the richest in the world for marine wildlife. Common dolphins travel in large pods here and sperm whales are regularly spotted in open water. The strait is also one of the few places in the world where you might encounter orcas, a resident Iberian population that is unique to this stretch of water between Spain and Morocco. Very few sailing destinations offer wildlife encounters like this.

Do I need any sailing experience?

None at all. Our skippers take care of everything on board. You are welcome to help with the sailing if you want to learn, but you can also just sit back, relax and enjoy the ride.

Can I join a Trip on my own?

Yes, and most of our guests do. You will be part of a small group of 8 to 10 open-minded travellers. By day two, strangers have usually become crew.

What is included in the price?

Seven nights on board, all plant-based meals prepared fresh each day, a professional skipper, and all port and marina fees. Flights and travel to the departure port are not included.
