Sailing Trips in Italy

Between Volcanoes, Turquoise Bays & Island Magic

Sailing in Italy is a journey for the senses. Whether it’s the wild beauty of Sicily and the volcanic Aeolian Islands or the crystal-clear waters and rugged coastlines of Sardinia, this is the Mediterranean at its most breathtaking.

We sail from island to island, anchor in quiet bays, and dive into warm, turquoise seas. On deck, the scent of rosemary, pine, and sea breeze fills the air. The sand beneath our feet ranges from soft white to volcanic black. We explore remote villages, hike scenic trails, and enjoy long evenings under the stars.

Away from the crowds and mega-yachts, we discover a wilder, more authentic Italy, full of contrasts and natural beauty. From dramatic volcanic landscapes to Caribbean-like beaches, Sardinia and Sicily offer unforgettable sailing moments.

This is island life, Italian-style. Simple. Free. And impossibly beautiful.

Highlights in Italy

  • The caribbean of Europe
The Caribbean? That's right. Turquoise water, white sandy beaches, small forests and rocky shores polished smooth by the waves.
  • Island Hopping & Black Sand Beaches
We sail from island to island. One highlight is the black beaches of Stromboli.
  • The Street of Bonifacio
We sail for you through the Strait of Bonifacio, which is feared for its adverse conditions and is therefore closed to large ships. But the entrance to Bonifacio will amaze you and is worth the thrill.

Plant-based in Italy

Volcanic soil, Tuscan hills and Sicilian markets on your plate

Italy has very different food personalities and we get to cook from all of them. In Sicily it is ripe tomatoes, Aeolian capers, aubergines and fennel grown in volcanic soil. Around Elba the cooking gets more Tuscan: hearty, herb-heavy and full of character. In Sardinia it is wilder, simpler and deeply good.

We shop at local markets before we set sail and let each region set the menu. On board that means caponata, fresh pasta, slow-roasted vegetables, chickpea dishes and antipasto spreads that take up the whole table. Every meal is 100% plant-based and prepared together by the crew and guests. In Italy, eating well is not optional.

FAQ Sailing in Italy

Which parts of Italy do you sail?

We have different Italy routes. One explores Sicily and the Aeolian Islands, a chain of volcanic islands in the Tyrrhenian Sea. Another heads to Sardinia, with its wilder coastline and fewer crowds. The third sails the waters around Elba, the largest island in the Tuscan Archipelago. Each route has its own character and atmosphere. Check the individual Trip pages to find the one that fits your dates.
Stromboli is one of the most active volcanoes in the world and sailing past it at night is something most people do not forget. The mountain glows in the dark and occasionally sends sparks into the sky above the sea. We time our passage to give everyone the best possible view. It is one of those moments that makes you very aware of how small the boat is.
Italy is one of the best destinations we sail for marine wildlife. The waters around the Aeolian Islands sit within the Pelagos Sanctuary, one of the largest marine protected areas in the Mediterranean. Fin whales and sperm whales pass through on migration, dolphins are a regular sight and loggerhead sea turtles are common in warmer months. Around Elba you sail within the Tuscan Archipelago National Park, one of the largest marine parks in Europe. It is not unusual to see dolphins, sea turtles and seabirds all on the same day.
None at all. Our skippers take care of everything on board. You are welcome to help with the sailing if you want to learn, but you can also just sit back, relax and enjoy the ride.
Yes, and most of our guests do. You will be part of a small group of 8 to 10 open-minded travellers. By day two, strangers have usually become crew.
Seven nights on board, all plant-based meals prepared fresh each day, a professional skipper, and all port and marina fees. Flights and travel to the departure port are not included.
